The Domestic Arts Building at the Newton County Fairgrounds will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2025.
The historic structure is very unique. It began as an 8-sided, barn-like building to exhibit women's entries at the fledgling Newton County Fair in 1925. It was initially called the "Floral Building."
Due to the popularity of the fair, thirteen years later the building was cut in half. One end was moved and walls were added in between, making more room for increasing fair entries.
Newton County’s Hidden Gem: The Domestic Arts Building is set to premiere the evening of Saturday, August 26th at 7pm in the Newton County Government Center.
Special thanks to Indiana Humanities, Indiana Landmarks, Jasper Newton Foundation, Newton County Fair Association, and Prairie Arts Council for making the film production possible!
