The Prairie Arts Council ARTernative School Art Program coordinates with the alternative schools at Rensselaer Central and Kankakee Valley Schools to provide educational art classes to the students during the school year. Art instructors and volunteers teach about a variety of art disciplines to expand students’ experiences. Students are exposed to classes teaching subjects like music, drawing, tie-dying, pottery, and cake decorating. The instructors and volunteers share their creative passions with the students, and the students learn new skills to awaken their own creative passions.
